Welcome to the Week 8 DraftKings Tournament Guide! This Guaranteed Prize Pool overview covers the main slate on DraftKings and how to approach the week with roster building strategies, games to target, and cheap salary-saving dart throws that could reach their ceilings this week. Let’s get right into Week 8 and analyze how we should be approaching the main slate for tournaments this week.

Roster-building strategies

Contrarian builds to games with projected high ownership

I’m going to revisit a simple principle that should help on a week like this with so many high-scoring games at our disposal. The easiest way to gain leverage on the field in large-field tournaments is to zig when the crowd zags.

One way to do this is by utilizing lower-owned players who are in the same great matchup as the higher-owned ones. For example, we can take advantage of a chalky WR1 like Robert Woods — who our ownership projections have at 21.26% — and pivot to his teammate, Brandin Cooks. Cooks is also in the same great matchup as Woods against the Packers secondary but comes in at 15.31% projected ownership. Green Bay has allowed the fourth-most receiving touchdowns and big fantasy outings to perimeter burners in Stefon Diggs and Marquise Goodwin, both eclipsing 30-plus DK points. Cooks has gone for at least 80 receiving yards and/or a touchdown in all but one game this season.
