Week 17 DFS fades and players to avoid

It’s the final week of the regular season for DFS, and it’s always a crazy, crazy time. Sifting through the coachspeak and the in-game possibilities to know who will play, who won’t play, who might play, and how long they might play for makes this arguably the wildest week in DFS.

Here are a handful of players I’ll be fading in Week 17.

Note: There’s always a case to be made for playing any player in tournaments. This list of “fades” is cash game focused, but most of these players can be avoided in tournaments as well. Keep in mind, however, that they might be good contrarian GPP plays because of their tough matchups and/or other issues making them “fade” candidates.

Quarterbacks

Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles

Foles will supposedly play in Week 17 even though the Eagles have the No. 1 seed wrapped up, but he’s A) not reliable for DFS and B) still at risk for sitting for at least a portion of the game. Foles’ four-touchdown game in Week 15 looks enticing, but don’t forget the 50 percent completion rate, 163-yard debacle from Week 16.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

At $5,900, Prescott feels cheap, but upon closer inspection, it’s actually accurate. He has fewer than 16 DraftKings points in six of his past seven, including fewer than 10 points in four of those games. He still has a 30-point ceiling, making him a viable GPP play, but I’ll be fading in cash. There’s also risk of the Cowboys starters sitting, despite head coach Jason Garrett’s claims to the contrary.
