Your DFS choices are limited to begin with — unless you’re mass-entering large GPPs — but it’s always helpful to know who not to put in your lineup right from the get-go.
Here are a handful of players I’ll be fading in Week 14.
Note: There’s always a case to be made for playing any player in tournaments. This list of “fades” is cash game focused, but most of these players can be avoided in tournaments as well. Keep in mind, however, that they might be good contrarian GPP plays because of their tough matchups and/or other issues making them “fade” candidates.
Quarterbacks
Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins
Cousins draws the Chargers, who haven’t given up multiple passing touchdowns to a quarterback since Week 5. Los Angeles has also held every quarterback not named Tom Brady to fewer than 275 passing yards this year.
Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers
Roethlisberger will be at home (hooray), but it’s against a divisional rival in the Ravens. Baltimore has given up the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this year, yielding just three passing scores against in their past six contests. Roethlisberger threw for just 216 yards and one score against them back in Week 4.
