Week 13 DFS fades and players to avoid

We’re back for Week 13 with our weekly look at players to fade or avoid in DFS games.

We have a full slate of games on our hands this week, which widens our player pool but also increases the amount of potential trap plays you need to be on the lookout for.

Here are a handful of players I’ll be fading in Week 13.

Note: There’s always a case to be made for playing any player in tournaments. This list of “fades” is cash game focused, but most of these players can be avoided in tournaments as well. Keep in mind, however, that they might be good contrarian GPP plays because of their tough matchups and/or other issues making them “fade” candidates.

Quarterbacks

Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions

Of all quarterbacks priced $6,600 and above — Eli Manning aside — we projected Stafford to return the least value based on his salary. The Ravens boast a great pass defense; only Jacksonville has ceded fewer fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this year.

Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers

Big Ben has been on a bit of a roll, but he’s a fade for me in Week 13 against the Bengals, who have given up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this year. Roethlisberger will also be on the road, where he is notorious for playing worse.
