If you’re setting some DFS lineups this holiday weekend but don’t know which players to avoid, or which chalky picks are actually trap picks, you’ve come to the right place.
Here are a handful of players I’ll be fading in Week 12.
Note: There’s always a case to be made for playing any player in tournaments. This list of “fades” is cash game focused, but most of these players can be avoided in tournaments as well. Keep in mind, however, that they might be good contrarian GPP plays because of their tough matchups and/or other issues making them “fade” candidates.
Quarterbacks
Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals
A popular pick because of his matchup against the Browns this week, I’ll be fading the crowd here. But while the Browns aren’t great against the pass, they aren’t awful either, giving up just 212.5 passing yards per game. Dalton is priced way up and he actually has been way, way worse at home this year, for whatever reason. I’ll be passing.
Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints
Brees gets a tough matchup on the road against the Rams, who have given up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this year. Plus, he still carries a ton of name recognition, so his ownership will probably be higher than it should.
