Divisional weekend DFS fades and players to avoid

Fading players on a short slate is tough, but you need to whittle down the options somehow. This article will spell out cases against a handful of player this weekend.

Below is a list of players I’ll be fading in DFS for the Divisional Round.

Note: There’s always a case to be made for playing any player in tournaments. This list of “fades” is cash game focused, but most of these players can be avoided in tournaments as well. Keep in mind, however, that they might be good contrarian GPP plays because of their tough matchups and/or other issues making them “fade” candidates.

Quarterbacks

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

Brees looked phenomenal last week (and he’s looked good all year, even without huge stat lines), but it’s a tougher draw this weekend on the road against the Vikings, who gave up the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this year while surrendering a league-low 12 passing touchdowns.

Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles

Foles’ abysmal floor keeps him off my radar this weekend. This Falcons defense held Jared Goff to just 259 passing yards and one score with a 53.3 percent completion rate — Goff’s third-lowest figure of the season (trailing only games against the Seahawks and Jaguars). Moral of the story: The matchup isn’t good, and Foles can’t be trusted with a handful of other quarterbacks in better spots.
