We’re into Week 7 of the 2018 NFL season, and now it’s time to identify our top fantasy football bargains for DFS players this week. With fewer injuries projecting guaranteed volume for backups, it is harder than in recent weeks to find glaring free spots, but our goal is to find the best possible values per dollar that we can.
Finding bargains and values in DFS is the key to any winning roster, both in cash games and tournaments. We will specify what games to use each bargain in and how to capitalize on them in each given week.
High ownership is to be expected from some of these bargains, and we will touch in that in the writeup, so they should be used in cash games. However, some of these players are also excellent buys for tournaments and won’t have high ownership percentages. Generally speaking, quarterback is the one position where ownership tends to be spread out the most — in other words feel free using these bargains both in tournaments and cash games.
Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers
Newton is priced as a mid-range QB1 and I can’t figure out why, considering he is averaging the third-most fantasy points of any starting quarterback and he matches up against an injury-depleted Eagles secondary that is attempting to move Rasul Douglas to safety. Newton offers an excellent floor but also elite upside that you won’t get from any quarterback priced below him on this week’s slate.
Joe Flacco, QB, Baltimore Ravens
Dialing up Flacco against the Saints defense is going to be a popular play this week, so we would limit this play to your cash game lineups. Having said that, the Saints have allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks and they rank No. 29 in pass coverage.
