(This is PFF Fantasy’s Bold Predictions Week. All week long, members of the fantasy staff will be making their biggest predictions for the season to come, with various approaches.)

This is my second year participating in Bold Predictions Week here at PFF, and I must say it’s definitely one of my favorite fantasy football pieces to write. It gives me a chance to step away from rankings updates and mock and actual drafts and plant my flag on some outside the box predictions.

To get the juices flowing, I decided to think of the boldest possible prediction possible. Here it is: My hometown Detroit Lions will win their first playoff game since the 1991 season!

Whoa. That was way too bold. Time to reel things back in and get to the topic at hand. Here’s a look at a few bold predictions from an IDP perspective heading into the 2018 season.

Rookie edge rusher Bradley Chubb will finish with 12 sacks in 2018

Historically, rookie edge rushers at both defensive end and outside linebacker have struggled to reach double-digit sacks. In a very impressive rookie campaign, Joey Bosa managed to do so in 2016, racking up 10.5 while playing just 12 games after ending his holdout. Prior to that, we have to go back to 2011, when outside linebackers Von Miller (11.5 sacks) and Aldon Smith (14 sacks) both reached double digits. Last season Carl Lawson of the Bengals led the rookie class in sacks with 8.5.
