Week 9 of the 2020 NFL season is officially upon us, giving us the perfect opportunity to set our fantasy football and DFS lineups accordingly. This week’s slate of games offers many intriguing battles at the wide receiver and cornerback positions.
It is important to analyze the upcoming matchups that are both ideal and best to avoid with the league continuing to trend pass-heavy, as well as fantasy football leagues rewarding points for receptions.
Here are the five best and five worst wide receiver versus cornerback matchups to target.
5 WR/CB Matchups to Target
Detroit Lions WR Marvin Jones Jr. vs. Minnesota Vikings CB Kris Boyd
The Lions will be without Kenny Golladay in this contest, but COVID-19 may further throw a wrench in these plans with Matthew Stafford’s status in doubt. Luckily for Jones, he should be able to produce, even with the potential issues at hand. Golladay’s injury paved the way for Jones to be featured in Week 8, resulting in seven targets, three of which were pulled in for receptions and two of which went for touchdowns.
The Vikings, on the other hand, are dealing with a bevy of injuries at the cornerback position, hence why Boyd is listed here — multiple starters will potentially be sidelined in Week 9. Ironically, it won’t matter which Vikings cornerback lines up across from Jones, as each of their top-five players at the position has allowed a passer rating over 100.0 when targeted this season.
