PFF's fantasy football recap focuses on player usage and stats, breaking down all the vital information you need to achieve fantasy success in 2023. Here, we touch on only players who are relevant in fantasy football leagues.
Breece Hall sets a new career high: Hall played 69 of a possible 90 offensive snaps for the Jets, setting new highs in total snaps and the percentage of snaps played.
- Hall took over as the team’s primary passing-down back in Week 12. The job was Michael Carter’s to start the season and then Dalvin Cook’s once Carter was released.
- Cook served as the early-down back for a few weeks, but after ineffective play, Israel Abanikanda took over as the primary backup on early downs.
- Abanikanda played a lot in the Jets' blowout loss last week, with Hall playing his fewest snaps since Week 2.
- Fullback Nick Bawden took some third-down snaps from Week 12 to 14. He didn’t play any snaps in Week 16.
- The Jets released Bawden last week so they could activate Aaron Rodgers from injured reserve. Bawden was a practice squad elevation for the Week 16 game but was surprisingly inactive.
- The Jets also ran a lot more passing plays than usual. They ran 10 plays of third-and-7-plus and 11 plays in two-minute drills, giving them more snaps in clear passing situations than usual.
- Hall ran the ball 20 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns and added 12 receptions for 96 receiving yards.
- We shouldn’t expect these kinds of numbers each week. His new role as the primary third-down back helped him and Bawden being inactive potentially led to more passing-down opportunities.
A quiet day for Minnesota Vikings running backs: Alexander Mattison returned from injury, but neither he nor Ty Chandler surpassed 20 rushing yards.
