Position fit:

Strongside linebacker in 4-3 scheme

Stats to know:

Had fifth-highest overall grade among linebackers in 2014 at +30.3 and ranked 18th in 2015 at +20.3

What he does best:

• Sure tackler, only nine misses on 203 attempts over last two seasons
• Makes the plays that come to him, can fill gaps downhill
• In coverage, has shown ability to lay big hits on underneath receivers
• Can turn and run with tight ends in coverage

Biggest concern:

• Struggles with change of direction, must be sharp with his reads and avoid false steps
• Could stand to attack pullers with more aggression and power in the run game
• Can get engulfed by blockers, often waits for them to get to him instead of looking to beat them to the spot
• Slow to recognize plays at times

Player comparison:

Christian Jones, Chicago Bears. Along with similar height and length, Perry compares favorably to Jones as they’re both solid tacklers who are inclined to get taken out in the run game at the second level.

Bottom line:

There is little flash to Perry’s game as he makes the sure plays in front of him, but lacks any great quality to project as an impact player. He’s been a sure tackler over the last two years, though it’s not always pretty when asked to play in space. He looks like a dependable player who can perform solid across the board against the run and in the pass game.
