2024 NFL Draft: One interesting stat for each first-round draft pick

After an event first round, let's take a look at one interesting statistic for each first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Round 1

1. Chicago Bears (via Carolina): QB Caleb Williams, USC

Williams recorded 28 career passing touchdowns on dropbacks that lasted longer than 3.5 seconds, the most among all FBS quarterbacks in the PFF College era. The next-closest quarterback is Patrick Mahomes at 24.

2. Washington Commanders: QB Jayden Daniels, LSU

Known for his rushing, Daniels was just as good at taking care of the football. His 1.7% career turnover-worthy play rate is the lowest rate among Power-Five QBs in the PFF College era.

3. New England Patriots: QB Drake Maye, North Carolina

Maye’s 80 big-time throws since 2022 are 10 more than the next-closest FBS QB (Michael Penix Jr.).

4. Arizona Cardinals: WR Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State

Harrison has 26 career receiving touchdowns against single coverage, ranking tied for first with DeVonta Smith among all FBS wide receivers in the PFF College era.

5. Los Angeles Chargers: OT Joe Alt, Notre Dame

With a 91.7 PFF grade in the 2022 season and a 90.7 PFF grade in the 2023 season, Alt is one of four FBS left tackles in the PFF College era with two separate seasons grading above 90.0.

6. New York Giants: WR Malik Nabers, LSU

From 2022-23, Nabers recorded 1,442 receiving yards from the slot and 1,130 receiving yards from out wide while no other FBS wide receiver earned more than 800 receiving yards from both alignments.

7. Tennessee Titans: OT J.C. Latham, Alabama

Latham’s 85.3 career PFF pass-blocking grade is tied for first among all Alabama offensive tackles in the PFF College era.

8. Atlanta Falcons: QB Michael Penix Jr., Washington

Penix Jr’s 67 big-time throws on passes within five yards of the sidelines are 10 more than the next-closest Power 5 QB in the PFF College era. 

9. Chicago Bears: WR Rome Odunze, Washington

Odunze’s 85 receptions of 15-plus yards ranks third among Power-Five WRs in the PFF College era.

10. Minnesota Vikings (via New York): QB J.J. McCarthy, Michigan

Since 2022, McCarthy’s 10.0 pass yards per attempt on passes outside of the pocket led all FBS QBs.

11. New York Jets: OT Olumuyiwa Fashanu, Penn State

At 696 snaps, Fashanu has the third-most career pass-blocking snaps played at left tackle without allowing a sack in the PFF College era.

12. Denver Broncos: QB Bo Nix, Oregon

Nix’s 85.5% adjusted completion percentage in 2023 is the highest in a single season among Power-Five QBs in the PFF College era.

13. Las Vegas Raiders: TE Brock Bowers, Georgia

Bowers had 689 career receiving yards after contact at Georgia, 223 more than the next-closest FBS tight end (Sam LaPorta) in the PFF College era.

14. New Orleans Saints: OT Taliese Fuaga, Oregon State

With a 90.8 career PFF grade at Oregon State, Fuaga is the second-highest graded PAC-12 offensive tackle in the PFF College era, behind 2021 seventh overall pick Penei Sewell.

15. Indianapolis Colts: EDGE Laiatu Latu, UCLA

From 2022-23, Latu led all FBS EDGEs with 27 sacks and a 94.5 PFF pass-rush grade.

16. Seattle Seahawks: DI Byron Murphy II, Texas

Murphy had a 91.5 PFF pass-rush grade in 2023, which tied for the fifth-highest mark in a single season among all FBS interior DL in the PFF College era.

17. Minnesota Vikings (via Jacksonville): EDGE Dallas Turner, Alabama

From 2021-23, Turner was one of three Power-Five defensive players with 100-plus total pressures and 100-plus coverage snaps.

18. Cincinnati Bengals: T Amarius Mims, Georgia

Mims is the only FBS offensive tackle in the PFF College era with 350-plus pass-block snaps played and zero sacks or QB hits allowed.

19. Los Angeles Rams: EDGE Jared Verse, Florida State

Since 2022, Verse ranked third among FBS EDGE rushers in pass-rush win rate (22.1%) and pressure rate (19.7%).

20. Pittsburgh Steelers: OL Troy Fautanu, Washington

Fautanu is one of two FBS left tackles with 1,000-plus pass-block snaps and an 85.0-plus PFF pass-blocking grade from 2022-23.

21. Miami Dolphins: EDGE Chop Robinson, Penn State

Robinson’s 93.4 career PFF pass-rush grade ranks third highest among all Big Ten defensive players in the PFF College era (behind Chase Young and Nick Bosa).

22. Philadelphia Eagles: CB Quinyon Mitchell, Toledo

Since the 2022 season, Mitchell leads all FBS CBs in PFF coverage grade (95.5) and forced incompletions (35).

23. Jacksonville Jaguars: WR Brian Thomas Jr., LSU

Thomas’s 12 receiving touchdowns on passes 20-plus yards downfield in 2023 ranked tied for first among FBS WRs.

24. Detroit Lions (via Dallas): CB Terrion Arnold, Alabama

Arnold combined for 19 forced incompletions plus interceptions in 2023, tied for second-most in a single season by any Alabama defensive back in the PFF College era (behind Minkah Fitzpatrick).

25. Green Bay Packers: OT Jordan Morgan, Arizona

From 2022-23, Morgan was one of four FBS left tackles with 1,000-plus offensive snaps played, an 80.0-plus PFF pass-blocking grade and an 80.0-plus PFF run-blocking grade.

26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: OL Graham Barton, Duke

Since 2021, Barton’s 87.2 PFF run-blocking grade on zone-based runs ranks fifth among FBS OL lined up at LT.

27. Arizona Cardinals (via Houston): Edge Darius Robinson, Missouri

From 2021-23, Robinson was one of two SEC interior DL/EDGE with 1,000-plus defensive snaps played, an 80.0-plus PFF pass-rush grade and an 80.0-plus PFF run-defense grade, the other being Will Anderson Jr.

28. Kansas City Chiefs (via Buffalo): WR Xavier Worthy, Texas

From 2021-23, Worthy led all FBS wide receivers with 94 targets on throws 20-plus yards downfield and 29 targets on throws 40-plus yards downfield. 

29. Dallas Cowboys: T Tyler Guyton, Oklahoma

From 2022-23, Guyton allowed a 3.1% pressure rate when lined up at right tackle, ranking tied for eighth best out of 58 Power-Five right tackles with 400-plus pass-blocking snaps.

30. Baltimore Ravens: CB Nate Wiggins, Clemson

Since the 2021 season, Wiggins has allowed a 45.9% completion percentage in coverage. That ranks 11th out of 202 FBS CBs with 100-plus targets in coverage in that time period.

31. San Francisco 49ers: WR Ricky Pearsall, Florida

From 2022-23, Ricky Pearsall ranked second among all Power-Five wide receivers with 423 receiving yards on crossing routes (behind Xavier Legette).

32. Carolina Panthers (via Buffalo): WR Xavier Legette, South Carolina

Legette’s 3.15 yards per route run tied for seventh among FBS receivers with 90-plus targets in 2023 (with Malik Washington). His 6.41 yards per route run against single coverage in 2023 ranked second among Power Five receivers with 25 or more targets.
