2022 NFL Draft: Quarterback prospect superlatives

Just because an NFL draft prospect may not be considered among the best at their respective position doesn’t mean they have nothing to offer. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be highlighting the best at specific traits for each positional group in the 2022 NFL Draft class.

We’re kicking it off with quarterbacks, where there is unsurprisingly a massive spread in superlative award winners.

Strongest Arm: Malik Willis, Liberty

This one was verified by ball speed measurements at both the Senior Bowl and the NFL Scouting Combine. It’s also verified by watching Willis sling it on ropes from every platform and arm angle imaginable. Willis will have a Tier 1 NFL arm once he gets to the league.

Most Accurate: Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh

This was arguably the most debatable superlative on the list. That’s because none of the class' signal-callers are particularly impressive in this regard. Pickett gets the nod in large part due to his 63.3% on-target rate on throws past the line of scrimmage — the highest of any of the top five quarterbacks on PFF’s Big Board. Still, that figure would have been bested by three quarterbacks from last year’s draft class.
