In a pass rush class that is talented at the top and deep throughout the first two rounds, Minnesota’s Boye Mafe is coming off four straight career years of production, and there’s reason to believe he’s only scratching the surface of what he’s capable of.
As is the case with most professional athletes, Mafe’s sports story began with him trying every sport under the sun growing up. He was initially a young basketball player before trying some baseball. He remembers his dad even wanted him to get into tennis – can you imagine taking the court for a tennis match today and seeing the 6-foot-4, 260-pound Mafe who has an 80-inch wingspan on the other side of the net?
One day in elementary school a friend at recess asked Mafe to try out for his pee-wee football team. NFL teams are glad he did.
