- A former high school quarterback, current Toledo WR Cody Thompson has benefited significantly from switching to wide receiver. A testament to his consistency, Thompson ranked No. 8 among draft-eligible wide receivers in yards per route run (3.00) last season.
- Largely due to his big-play ability, Thompson has far exceeded his two-star status since accepting his only offer from the Rockets. He ranked No. 6 among that same group of wide receivers in deep pass receiving yards, bringing in 10 receptions of 20 yards or more for 525 total yards.
- While other big-play receivers struggle to become reliable, high volume pass-catchers, Thompson stands out as an anomaly. He has dropped just four of his 109 catchable targets (3.66 percent) in his career.
- Thompson especially left his mark on routes that involved a double move, as he ranked No. 2 in the nation yards gained on such routes (159).
