- As a redshirt freshman in 2016, Clelin Ferrell was a big contributor to Clemson's defense that went onto win a National Championship, thanks in a major part to his late season production.
- In 2016, Ferrell recorded an overall grade of 79.3 on 760 snaps played, but really turned it on starting in Week 11 of the season. From that point forward, Ferrell recorded a grade of 80.0 or higher in four of his six remaining contests, including his season-high grade of 86.2 which came in the first playoff game against Ohio State.
- Ferrell had 39 total quarterback pressures in 2016, which ranked No. 5 among returning ACC edge rushers. 16 of those pressures came from Week 11 on.
- At outside linebacker, Ferrell also showed his ability to stop the run as his stop percentage of 8.8 is No. 3 among returning ACC players at the position.
