Bottom line: Unless the offensive line is a true liability, it’s going to be hard for any team in the country to stop Bryce Young and Alabama.

2. GEORGIA BULLDOGS

PFF Power Rankings: 2 of 130
Projected win total: 11.0
Chance to win SEC: 37.1

Bottom Line: Stetson Bennett has to show he can carry the team when it needs him to in order for Georgia to have a shot at repeating in 2022.

3. OHIO STATE BUCKEYES

PFF Power Rankings: 3 of 130
Projected win total: 10.0
Chance to win Big 10: 32.3%

Bottom Line: Assuming the team’s defense is not a liability, Ohio State’s fate in 2022 lies in the hands of C.J. Stroud and his ability to play consistently well.

4. CLEMSON TIGERS

PFF Power Rankings: 4 of 130
Projected win total: 9.4
Chance to win ACC: 23.3%

Bottom Line: Clemson’s offense is still a big question mark. There’s some serious doubt the unit will rapidly improve with D.J. Uiagalelei in 2022, but the defense can still get the team pretty far.

5. MICHIGAN WOLVERINES

PFF Power Rankings: 5 of 130
Projected win total: 9.1
Chance to win Big 10: 15.0%

Bottom Line: Michigan can’t defend its Big Ten title unless its starting quarterback produces at an elite level. The good news is that they have a signal-caller capable of doing so.
