Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season is just about in the books. We went 2-1-1 on our picks, getting a push because we were lucky enough to get the New York Jets at +5 (it closed at +3.5). Our lock of the week also hit, as Patrick Mahomes threw three touchdown passes in the second half against the Cleveland Browns.
Week 2 is fast approaching — and with it opportunity to fade overreactions or press reactions that are not strong enough. We’ve already placed a decent number of bets for the slate.

San Francisco 49ers (-3) at Philadelphia Eagles
Point (George Chahrouri): The 49ers closed as 9.5-point favorites in Detroit in Week 1 and dominated to the tune of leading by 21 points entering the fourth quarter. The Lions made a valiant effort to cover, though, dropping the game by a 41-33 scoreline.
Meanwhile, the Eagles put a beatdown on an Atlanta Falcons team that is clearly not very good. While quarterback Jalen Hurts will grade out very well, Philadelphia would be wise not to overreact given its opponent and the fact that Hurts notched only a 3.6-yard average depth of target. Some may be worried that cornerback Jason Verrett tore his ACL, further thinning the 49ers' secondary, but the difference in talent on offense is dramatic. Plus, the 49ers are power-ranked to be six points better than the Eagles, who slot in at 30th.
Fade the Eagles at the top of the market; ride with Kyle Shanahan and his two-quarterback offense.
