RB Devin Singletary, Houston Texans
• The Denver Broncos run defense has struggled mightily all season, allowing an NFL-worst 5.4 yards per carry and ranking toward the bottom of the league in expected points added (EPA) allowed per play and success rate allowed.
• Further, teams are running 12% more than expected against the Broncos in the red zone, making it likely that the Texans will turn to the ground to try to punch the ball in.
• This game has the second-highest total on the slate, and in an offense led by star quarterback C.J. Stroud, the Texans will threaten to score often and rely on their running back to punch it in from close against a defense that has struggled to stop the run.
Long shot 1: WR Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers
• According to PFF’s WR/CB matchup tool, no player has a bigger matchup advantage than Brandon Aiyuk, who will be facing an Eagles secondary that doesn't have a single cornerback who prevents separation at a high rate.
• Aiyuk has earned the second-best red-zone receiving grade, trailing only Courtland Sutton of the Denver Broncos.
• And with the Eagles boasting one of the best run defenses in the NFL, teams have thrown 5% more than expected against them this season. This should increase passing volume and hopefully give Aiyuk plenty of opportunities to take advantage of the matchup and find the end zone.
Long shot 2: TE Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars
• The Cincinnati Bengals have struggled to defend tight ends this season. On targets to tight ends, the Bengals defense has earned just a 48.1 team coverage grade and allowed a league-worst EPA per play.
• While Engram has yet to find the end zone this season, the team has made a concerted effort to get him the ball in close, as the veteran has now seen schemed red-zone looks in back-to-back games.
• In a game where the Jaguars should score plenty, look for them to take advantage of the matchup and pepper Engram with targets to get him into the end zone for the first time this season.
