NFL Betting 2020: Supercontest strategy for the 2020 NFL season

The Supercontest is a fun way for you or a group of friends to try your hand at sports betting. The originator of the contest is the Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas, but there are also similar contests, including ones by online sportsbooks such as Draft Kings and BetOnline.ag

In these contests, you pay an entry fee at the beginning of the season. Each week, you pick a number of games against the spread (usually five); you get a point each time you're right and half a point for a push. The top finishers in the contest receive prizes much larger than the original entry.

This is a fun way to use your NFL knowledge and have fun, especially if you team up with friends and agree to split your winnings. Alternatively, run your own contest with your friends like you would a fantasy league using the same structure and lines as one of these contests.

If you're thinking of participating, here are some useful strategy tips.

KNOW THE RULES

You wouldn't play in a fantasy football league without knowing how the scoring system works. Similarly, in these contests, you need to know the rules about when picks can be submitted, what the lines will be and whether/how you're allowed to change picks. For example, the rules differ in the three contests mentioned above.
