Hey there football fans, here are five things you need to know from yesterday to start off your Wednesdays:

  1. PFF's Vinnie Ronca brought you the best quarterback at every PFF Signature Stat. PFF keeps seven signature statistics designed to help you get a more accurate look at quarterback performance, and the 2016 leaders of each one had impressive seasons. Sam Bradford managed to league the league in adjusted completion percentage despite playing behind a less-than-stellar offensive line.
  2. The Panthers are moving Kurt Coleman back to free safety. After Roman Harper departed from the team, the Panthers changed Coleman's role to one closer to the line of scrimmage, but after an average season as a strong safety, Coleman will go back to playing deeper down the field. Coleman will be hoping to replicate his better grades as a free safety from the 2015 season.
  3. The Jaguars seem confident in Blake Bortles. The team did not add any quarterbacks to the roster despite 2016 being a large set back for the young signal caller. Bortles' struggles were seemingly caused by a degradation of his mechanics and the team believes he can return to the form that saw him take a step forward in the 2015 season.
  4. Will Mike Gillislee be an upgrade over LeGarrette Blount? He seems like a likely candidate to take over Blount's role. Gillislee was actually a more effective runner after contact last year, edging out Blount and fellow new-Patriot Rex Burkhead in yards after contact per carry. How the playing time shakes out will continue to be an item to watch for Patriots fans (and fantasy players).
  5. Better pass protection for Philip Rivers yields better results for fantasy players. Whether or not Rivers has been starting material in 12-team leagues has depended on whether he was pressured above or below the league average. When he has been protected, he's been a top-12 quarterback for fantasy players. With three new offensive linemen coming by way of the draft and OT Russell Okung joining them via free agency, it looks like the Chargers are doing everything possible to improve his protection.
Safety worth way more than 2 points. Help protect your family with fast, free will.
