Notes

  • The Raiders have looked to address the wide receiver position since we last looked at their depth chart, with the team signing Michael Crabtree and drafting Amari Cooper. Cooper comes into the league as the most complete receiver from the 2014 class, and has the skill set to contribute immediately. Crabtree moves across the Bay after a disappointing past two seasons. It's a signing which only really pays off if he can recapture his 2012 form, but if he can, they'll have gotten themselves a steal.
  • The signing of Rodney Hudson at center solidifies an offensive line which looks pretty good from center to left tackle, with Hudson, Gabe Jackson and Donald Penn all playing well enough to be considered better than average. Austin Howard is a solid right tackle, with the only concern coming from Khalif Barnes at right guard. Barnes played both right tackle and left guard in 2014 but struggled heavily at both spots, finishing the year with a negative grade in pass protection and as a run blocker.
  • The Raiders are really looking for someone to step up in that secondary. Several players are solid enough starters that they shouldn't cause them problems, but they really lack a difference maker there. There are also big question marks at the position when it comes to depth, and we don't really know enough about almost all of the players behind the starters.
  • The linebackers are an interesting mix here, with Khalil Mack the standout after an incredible rookie campaign. He's already set himself up as one of the better defensive players in the NFL, with his work against the run standing out above all. At middle linebacker they had to find an upgrade for Miles Burris, but we question how much of an upgrade Curtis Lofton actually is for them, with his own struggles in recent years.
