Notes
- The Packers offense is top heavy, with just one position where we feel they head into 2015 with a below average starter. Highlighted by stars at wide receiver, where Randall Cobb scored 12 touchdowns from the slot last season and Jordy Nelson continued his ascension into the elite group of wide receivers in the NFL, they also have the league's best quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, and one of the best guards in football in Josh Sitton. If everyone can stay healthy, the Packers offense should continue to roll in 2015.
- That's the big if however, and as good as the Packers starters are, there are huge questions across the board when it comes to depth. Just three backups on offense have played enough snaps for us to get a true feeling for where they are as players, with the rest of the spots filled by young players who we haven't seen much of, draft picks, and undrafted free agents.
- The decision to move Clay Matthews inside definitely improves the Packers at inside linebacker, but he still saw time on the outside late in 2014. We expect that to continue, and they can get the most out of him by having him inside on early downs, but using him as an edge rusher in obvious passing situations. Regardless, he is still one of the better defenders in the NFL.
- There are question marks on the defensive line though, where both B.J. Raji and Letroy Guion need to step up. Mike Daniels finished 2014 as our 8th highest graded 3-4 defensive end, and has one spot on the line sewn up, but Guion graded negatively against the run last year, while Raji missed all of 2014, but graded out at -23.1 in 2013. One name to keep an eye on is Christian Ringo, he impressed us with his work in college and could surprise if he gets a chance on the field.
