Mike Evans is a better fantasy option than Amari Cooper in 2016

After one of the closest debates of my head-to-head series between Alshon Jeffery and Keenan Allen, today we’ll be sticking with wide receivers who are also being taken in the second round of fantasy drafts. Both Amari Cooper and Mike Evans had some issues with drops in 2015, but their talent shines through.

And before we get started, it’s important for you to know that you have input on which players will be involved in the next article. If there is a head-to-head you’d like covered, make sure you head over to Twitter @MikeTagliereNFL to let me know your suggestions. But now, let’s find out why I’m saying you should go Evans over Cooper in 2016.

Quarterback strength

Just like the receivers themselves, Cooper and Evans both have quarterbacks who are both extremely young and inexperienced. Derek Carr has been in the league just two years, the same as Evans, while Jameis Winston has the same one year of experience Cooper has.

Carr is a guy who improved greatly from his first year in the league to his second year. He threw for 717 more yards and 11 more touchdowns, and scored 76 more fantasy points in 2015, despite throwing the ball 26 fewer times than he did in 2014. It’s amazing what a difference receivers can make to a quarterback’s outlook.
