Defensive Player Spotlight: DI Jer’Zhan Newton, Illinois
Newton led all Power Five interior defensive linemen with 59 pressures a year ago. This season, the redshirt junior tied for the national lead with 44. He also tied for second among FBS defensive tackles with eight sacks and tied for fifth with 25 run-defense stops.
