Fantasy football rankings and projections for AAF Week 8

It’s the last week of the AAF fantasy regular season, so let’s dive into the fantasy football rankings and projections for Week 8 of the Alliance. You can use this information to help you set your season-long lineups and build your DFS lineups.

Garrett Gilbert has faded somewhat from his early-season fantasy dominance, but he’s still your best bet to pace the league this week. Beyond Gilbert, John Wolford is coming off a strong performance in Week 7, thanks in part to his ability as a runner. Wolford ran for 44 yards and a score on five carries. He’s currently the lone AAF signal caller with over 100 rushing yards on the season. Iron QB Luis Perez has caught fire over the last two weeks with 594 yards and five scores through the air over that span. He’s your best bet for value this week. Be careful with Brandon Silvers this week. He’s coming off his overtime heroics, but Johnny Manziel’s role is likely to expand.

Trent Richardson now has 10 rushing scores on the season and is running away with the lead spot in fantasy scoring among running backs. Beyond Richardson, we continue to see fluctuation in the scoring leaders from week to week. De’Veon Smith took top honors last week on the strength of three rushing scores. The committee in the Orlando backfield makes it unlikely for Smith to repeat this performance, but his touchdown upside is very real. Terrell Watson is in a similar predicament in the San Diego backfield. He finished second at the position in PPR scoring last week, but we also saw the Fleet expand Bishop Sankey’s role with 13 touches for the former NFL running back.

Don’t overthink it at the top. Rashad Ross and Charles Johnson remain the chalk top options at the position. However, we have seen some interesting names emerge down the stretch. Reece Horn continues to be extremely productive and leads all receivers in fantasy scoring over the last three weeks. Nelson Spruce caught a massive 12 balls for 146 yards last week. This was the second time we saw Spruce lead receivers in weekly PPR scoring. That said, the Fleet did expand Francis Owusu’s role in the offense, so don’t get too carried away with Spruce this week.

We’re starting to see some consistency at tight end, with Nick Truesdell emerging as the league’s top option. Truesdell leads all AAF tight ends in catches (22), receiving yards (255), and touchdowns (3). Other than Truesdell, on two AAF tight ends have topped 200 receiving yards: Wes Saxton Jr. and Bug Howard. Both are solid tight end options this week if you’re required to start the position.
